@mihir Some books are free and the average cost of a best seller book is about $10. It does not take very long to download the book, just a few minutes.

I was thinking to buy A KNDLE FROM hERE IN US AND TAKE BACK TO INDIA.
What is the cost of the Ebooks ? ARe they not available for free.
How much time will it take to download(approx)

@Kindle Curious – Kindle does not support non-latin characters, so text in non-latin languages wont display well in the Kindle.

Hi Prathap,

Did you buy the Kindle from http://www.amazon.com and ask them to ship to India directly? if so could you give an idea how much extra you had to pay over the advertised price? I was told I’d have a pay some tax (U.S.) and then in addition I’d have to pay a hefty customs duty before I get the Kindle in my hands. Did you pay a hefty customs duty too?

Does kindle support displaying PDF docs with tamil or any indian languages?

I recently tried to convert a tamil PDF doc into .mobi format, which resulted in 100X bigger than source PDF doc.
